Members of the Konow Lab and Andy Bieweners lab at Concord Field Station are involved in four presentations at this years SICB meeting in New Orleans. On the 5th, Konow and Tijs talk about their work on rat hind limb muscle shape change in a sesion dedicated to muscle mechanics (8AM onwards). UML sophomore Alex Collias presents her poster on muscle strain during locomotion that evening and Konow is co-author on a paper delivered by B. Frederich on angelfish miniturization on the 6th. Then, its dinner at Jacques-Imos. 45 powerpoint presentations from elementary and middle schoolers + three judges = a fun (long) day. So many impressive presentations.
Congratulations are due to Jacob Solomon. He received an UML honors college stipend to work in the Konow lab.
Today, members from three UML BioSci labs (Fish, McMenamin & Konow) will be attending the Northeast Regional meeting of the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology held at Tufts University. The program contains 38 blitz talks with Dr. McMenamin presenting a talk on how thyroxin hormone integrates craniofascial development in Zebrafish while Dr. Konow is delivering the plenary lecture. Walk in attendance is encouraged at 30$ payable at the door. Hope to see you there. Follow talks on twitter #SCIBNE
